Chameleon Island Ltd is a small New Zealand based company keen to educate the public about climate change mitigation through games. Most of this type of information is overwhelming, leaving the general public helpless on what they can do to help.
For example, the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) Initiative funded by UN organisations and involving the work of more 1,360 experts worldwide, resulted in an 800 page document, on the utilisation of energy, and ecosystem goods and services. Some very important issues were raised which can help everyone contribute to the primary goal of mitigating climate change. The reality though is that not every person in the world will read that document and find their role in achieving this goal.
Chameleon Island Ltd intends to educate the public about climate change mitigation, in a manner that is fun and enjoyable. Our games are a mix of edutainment (games primarily focused on educating or training the player) and infotainment (games primarily focused on informing the player on a particular topic) that we hope will find their role in contributing to the task of mitigating climate change.
The Chameleon Island team is made up of only two members, Oliver Chikumbo and Leonie Hooghart .
